How Are Sign-Ups Coming?

We are just under one week away from sign-ups closing!​

We’ll post a 48 and 24 hour warning for all of you still tinkering with adjusting things and editing, as well.

Reminder to check your AO3 emails. We will begin reviewing existing sign-ups tomorrow, and if there are any clarifications needed, we'll let you know.

If you signed up with any Treats related tag on your offers, please do the mods a favor and edit your offers to remove those tags. We would really appreciate your help with that!

PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN EDITING!!! AO3 has been known to add “Additional Tags” to your selections. This means that if you go back in to edit, it may select “Fanart” (or other tags) for you, even though you did not want it to. If you edit your sign-up, please check this very carefully on your requests. If you discover there was an issue AFTER assignments go out, please let a mod know immediately.

Nomination Reminders

Hi all! With just under a week left in the nominations period, we wanted to share a few reminders about nominations for this exchange:

  • Tags must be nominated to the 2024 tagset if you want to use them in your sign-up. Canonical tags are not included by default and while some tags were carried over from previous years' exchanges, many were not. Double-check that your favorite is part of the 2024 tagset!
  • Nominating tags does not mean you have to sign up for the exchange! Even if you're not participating, you can nominate tags to encourage others to create for ships you like. You can also nominate ships that you might want to create treats for!
  • Tags must include at least one Elvhen character to be accepted and OC/PC characters must include a gender & background (i.e. Female Surana, Male Lavellan)
  • You are not limited to existing canonical tags! As long as your tag meets our other requirements, you can manually type it into the nominations box and we will add it to the tagset. Go wild, rarepair and minor NPC lovers! 🙌

✨ Meet the Mods ✨

Introducing the final new mod rounding out the Arlathan eXchange team!

☆ Mod Intro​

  • Name: DirThenera, or Thenera. Dir is ok too.
  • Pronouns: she/her

I discovered Dragon Age in 2018 during a difficult time of my life, and quickly became obsessed, especially with all things Elvhen. Soon just the game wasn't enough for me and I dusted off my rusty drawing skills and rustier writing skills.

Mostly obsessed with Solas, I've written a couple hundred thousand words of fic, mostly bittersweet with some snark. I love deep lore dives and angst and character explorations.

As a painter, I love complex colors and unusual lighting, and seeing if I can capture the essence of the character. I hate doing backgrounds, but it's a skill I've been working on. Portraits are my favorite.

I can't wait for Dreadwolf, and I'm excited to celebrate elves with all of you in the meantime!

Important Changes and Updates!

With less than one week until nominations, we have some changes and updates to share!​

☆ rules & faq changes​

→ We have added and clarified some of the rules regarding AI and NSFW works, as well as updated the guidelines on gift giving and our commenting policy on received works.

☆ nominations changes​

→ This year we will pre-load ships and characters that have been nominated for both prior rounds of Arlathan, so you can free up your nominations spaces for other characters/ships.

☆ sign-up changes​

→ The minimum number of requests and offers has been increased to 3. We have also removed the limit on offers, so participants can offer to their heart's content!

→ Clarification has been added regarding OC requests. Requests should not be designed to force a creator to create ONLY for your specific OC. Writing/drawing someone else's OC can be an intimidating process that creators may not be comfortable with. Please be sure to include at least one ship where you are open to either general OCs or canon characters.

☆ other changes​

→ Please send communications regarding individual circumstances via email or the official extension form. With the larger mod team, we will no longer be taking personal communications about the exchange via Discord DM or tumblr DM/ask. General questions can still be asked in discord or via tumblr ask.

→ There will be a separate treatless list this year.

→ A tutorial about AO3 & Non-Fanfic Works has been added, including resources for hosting multimedia works.
